During Gifted Enrichment Class, we celebrated National Punctuation Day! We played “Pin the Tail on the Comma” which is just like “Pin the Tail on the Donkey” but with commas. Another thing we did to celebrate was our teacher, Dr. Jean Mahony, read aloud to us “Eats, Shoots, and Leaves” and “Punctuation Takes a Vacation.” Also Dr. Mahony had cheese catalogs and we had to look through them and try to find as many incorrectly used punctuation and spelling. What I learned that day was how important punctuation is. If we didn’t have them, our books would have no dialogue, and we wouldn’t be able to ask questions, or even put an end to our sentences! I loved the celebration. I love punctuation!!
